Hi, I’m Kémi (Kay-Me)! I am a passionate and empathetic Licensed Master Social Worker in Iowa with a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Iowa. I have supported adolescents, parents, Veterans, vulnerable adults, and families from diverse backgrounds for many years. I believe every life journey creates a unique story, and that every person has the capacity to overcome challenges and build a purpose-driven, fulfilling life.

Healing becomes clearer when we feel seen, heard, and valued. I meet clients where they are and create a comfortable, empowering, and judgment-free space where they can speak honestly, process their experiences, and move toward meaningful goals. My work is rooted in compassion, alignment, empathy, and whole-life wellness.

I have worked in crisis intervention, advocacy, and social services since 2005, with experience in medical social work, case management, crisis counseling, psychosocial assessment, and care coordination. Since 2023, I have also provided crisis therapy, offering education in suicide prevention and awareness. I have served individuals ranging in age from 12 to 85, including Veterans, at-risk youth, parents, college students, and families. My professional experience includes work and collaboration with the VA, UnityPoint Health, Siouxland Mental Health Center, Rosecrance Jackson, and Sioux City Community Schools.

My therapeutic approach is person-centered, collaborative, culturally responsive, solution-focused, strengths-based, and trauma-informed. I tailor each session to the client and incorporate concepts from Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing. Together, we can examine limiting beliefs, strengthen emotional regulation, develop healthy coping skills, and take practical steps toward change.

I am especially passionate about supporting people navigating trauma, emotional wounds, abuse, relationship challenges, life transitions, depression, and anxiety. I understand how deeply these experiences can affect our thoughts, beliefs, behaviors, relationships, and overall wellness. My commitment is to help clients address what is hindering their growth and move forward with greater clarity, strength, and hope.

My Christian faith shapes the compassion and hope I bring to counseling. With your permission, I welcome prayer, biblical reflection, and faith into our work while honoring your beliefs, questions, and choices. As the founder and creator of ALIGN7™ Spiritual Alignment Framework, I am passionate about helping others understand their identity, strengthen whole-life wellness, and move toward holistic alignment, healing, and purpose.

I am happily married to Ret. Army SFC Kevin Brown, my loving and supportive husband of 10 years. We are the proud parents of six and “Papa” and “Cha-Cha” to five amazing grandchildren. Kevin serves as a Veteran Outreach Officer throughout the Siouxland community and beyond. I am also a singer and ministry leader who loves encouraging others through music and faith.

Jesus is the Center of my joy—my Savior, Living Hope, and Peace. His mercy and grace carry me throughout life’s journey, and I am forever grateful for His gift of eternal life and unconditional love. As long as I live, in all that I do, I will worship Him with all that I have.

Reaching out for help can feel uncomfortable, but you do not have to take the first step alone. I would be honored to partner with you as we move toward healing and growth, one step at a time. You are not alone.
